| At weekends or whenever the furnace has been cooled to low temperature it is a good practice to measure average lining diameter as well as depth and compare with original dimensions. Diameter has to be measured at different depths, and at each depth at right angle to each other. The average of all these measurements gives reliable value. Comparison of these measurements with original dimensions, or with previous measurements provides valuable guide-line about the lining condition. |
